How to Pick a Pillow Part 3
Now here’s the last part of this puzzle for picking a pillow. We get to talk about how to choose the firmness of a pillow. It’s a personal preference but here’s some ideas for you to ponder. A new pillow should be selected based on the position that you start sleeping in.
Soft pillows are generally for stomach sleepers. Medium pillows are for someone who sleeps on their side or who tosses and turns at night. Firm pillows are back sleepers.
Adjustability and support also play a factor in choosing a pillow. They create a proper sleeping position with a healthy posture, no matter how you sleep. Adjustability is the way a pillow adjusts to cradle your head. Support is the way a pillow fills in the curves between your neck and upper spine.
A down pillow can last up to 10 years and a synthetic pillow won’t last 2 years. It also depends on if you toss and turn a lot at night because you will be harder on your pillow.
