Ever wondered about the types of bath towels?

Cotton is typically used as the material for bath towels because no other natural material can compare with the absorbency, softness, durability, and ease of care that cotton has. Egyptian cotton towels are very durable, a silky feel and have a great sheen.

Velour towels go through a shearing process to remove part of the terry on one side of the towel. You should use the velour side to blot yourself dry instead of rubbing and use the reverse side to rub dry in order to get hte best absorbency.

Something that gets asked often is what is the difference between a printed towel and a jacquard towel? These are words you see often with towels. Printed towels have a design that is placed onto the surface of the towel. With this process, silk screen printing, the pattern can eventually flake off. Now on a jacquard towel, the pattern is permanently woven into the towel so you will see it on the front and back of the towel.

Did you know that the band or woven area that is on a towel is called a dobby? It’s just their to make it look pretty and serves no other purpose.
