What is the best way to wash sheets?

The best way depends on the material of the sheets.

For sateen sheets you would need to machine wash them on gentle cycle in cold water with a small amount of mild detergent. Use the highest water level and don’t use bleach or fabric softener. Do not wash other items with Sateen; this can contaminate the cotton fibers. Tumble dry on lowest air fluff setting.

For cotton or cotton blends you would want to machine wash them on a warm setting and bleach with non-chlorine bleach according to manufacturer’s instructions. Tumble dry on medium setting and don’t overload the washer or dryer. Sheets woven with a higher thread count will become softer each time you wash them.

For T-shirt knit material you would want to machine wash them on a warm setting and tumble dry. Treat them like your favorite T-Shirt.

Be sure to wash brand new sheets before putting them on your bed for the first time.
