What is a bed skirt or dust ruffle?

July 5th, 2007 by Bedding Expert

Ever wondered what that funny looking piece of fabric is that hangs at the bottom of a bed in a home decor store? Well it’s called a Bed Skirt or Dust Ruffle.

The Bed Skirt is tailored or ruffled fabric that fits your box spring and falls to the floor. They can come with continuous corners or split corners which have a split at the corner of the foot of the bed in order to fit around a bed frame. Bed Skirts will cover your box spring on three sides.

Bed-skirts cover up that ugly looking box spring and make the bed seem like it’s floating on air. They are used to give your bed that finished look.

I’ve got this really cool bedskirt that’s elastic and goes around the box spring. This way when I flip my mattress I don’t mess it up.
